The mercurial and pragmatic nature of politics and politicians

For me, politics is a separate dimension to the world I live in. I have to vote; I do vote. But who I vote for; that is all in the hands of God Our Father.  Promises mean nothing now in politics. Pragmatism, functionalism, 'what works', what gets me in power, what gets through enough votes in the House of Commons; all these things are what government in the 5 years in power. The common good, principles, morals and unity no longer prevail.

But in Christ I know He will steer His flock, what ever storms the World puts before us.

How it appears contracts can be over ridden by MPs

There is a chance that G4S may need to pay extra money for failing against the security contract for the London Olympics.  Normally any financial penalties are stipulated in contracts. I wonder if this is a case where contracts can be over ridden. I doubt the contract said "if you fail to meet the terms of the contract, we will not only financially penalise you but also take you to a government committee of MPs"

Royal Flash

I think it's ludicrous that the Duchess of Cambridge is suing for snaps of her breasts. I think at the end of the day as she has to live up to being a royal she should learn to cover up; by the looks of things she seems to have got over the embarrassment pretty well; I think she is attention seeking!

Drafting speeches

Someone somewhere who drafts speeches for Nick Clegg, believes that people who think that marriage is only between a man and a woman are bigots, and that it is OK to draft that into a speech.
